We are helping you find your next photographer for both planned and unplanned photography experiences.
We are launching our application in February 2020, with the help of our influencer and photographer community.
We currently have influencers lined up to help us sell our company and brand upon launch (their reach is to a following of 1.4 million). We currently have approximately 30 photographers in the New York metropolitan area who are interested in working through our application and potentially migrate their client list to our service.
We have gained international recognition, being able to present at a cooperation between the Warsaw school of Economics and the University of Nevada, even presenting our startup to the President of Poland as part of this initiative between countries and institutions.
In the immediate market (New York), photography accounts for over $216 million in revenue according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. In the United States, there are over a 6 million bookings annually accounting for over $10 billion in revenue.
82% of bookings occur through personal and immediate photographer networks and so opportunities to grow this market by expanding photographers network has the potential to spur photographer engagement in the market and leverage market growth.
Problem or Opportunity
There is over 300,000 photography bookings per year in the New York state. However, photographers continually have problems trying to find clients and organize their bookings in a way that is intuitive and organized. This results in clients not finding adequate photography options outside of their immediate network and photographers lacking work opportunities despite the performance of the overall market.
Solution (product or service)
We are launching a mobile application that will provide a organized booking experience for both planned and on-demand photography services.
This service will find photographers by geo-location, be able to compare and see photographer portfolios, content, communicate and negotiate with them, before confirming details in a structured booking process.
Snappr - Startup in San Fran that has some investment but focuses on organizing the photography transaction without understanding the unique needs of photographers. Photographers are really dissatisfied with the service and generally only low-quality photographers opt for this service.
Phone Camera - A user could opt to use their phone camera or existent devices in order to take photography, however, analytics on uploaded media would suggest users are looking for higher quality photos and generally opt for buying cameras or renting to ensure higher resolution pictures and adequate lighting.
Advantages or differentiators
We are building a community of photographers who believe in our brand and would consider totally running their business through our service. We have positioned ourselves to manage an existent market (planned photography sessions) while providing a innovative approach that can expand market potential (on-demand photography).
We are basing our transactions on a commission based model where we will tack on a 20% fees and service charge on top of the photographers set rate.
In our first year we are aspiring to book 10,000 shoots. This is possible through our network of photographers and our growth expectations as we launch. We want to acquire 10% of the photographers within the New York area (409) and acquire 50% of their bookings through our service (25 bookings). This would result in approx. $150,000 in revenue in our first year.
Our business model positions ourselves as a intermediary to organize the photography booking process, payment, and exchange of photos. To participate in this service the client will pay a 20% fee, and the photographer can utilize without any decline in their stated job fees. This approach incentives photographers to run their business through our service (due to the additional security, organization, and benefits) without the cut to their revenue. Clients will benefit from a wider array of photographers and a organized process
Money will be spent on
Founders salaries Marketing expenses Storage and server/data deliverance charges Office and Supplies Additional team salaries/associated taxes and benefits
Potential of economic decline could result in stricter spending by our customers. However, the need for visual media in various industries (planned photo session dependent) should buffer our business in a decline and incentive our photographers to opt-into our service more for the linkage it would create for them to find new clients during a recession.
