Idea

Apis Cor is a construction industry disrupter developing 3D printing robots to print full-scale houses.

We apply additive manufacturing to build houses robotically. Apis Cor's unique robotics arm distributes a concrete mortar creating the desired shape of a building in a matter of a few days. Now, with 3D printing technology, we can build houses in a way that was not affordable or even possible with traditional construction.

Our mission is to narrow the gap for new housing on Earth and build shelters on Moon and Mars for first to arrive.

Current Status

- The machine has been designed, produced, tested and deployed in 2018-19 on a huge construction project in Dubai. This project has resulted in constructing the world's largest 3D printed building and recognized as such by Guinness.

- 1st Place, NASA Phase 3 Construction Level 1&2 of 3D Printed-Habitat Centennial Challenge by NASA, 2018-2019

- Positive market validation is received (USA, Australia, Africa, Asia).

Market

We are targeting a low rising construction market - from low-cost social housing to high-end villas. The worldwide addressable market is $100Bn+.
Yearly addressable housing units more than 15m units (which are still not enough to meet the demand for new housing!). For example, 850,000 single-family units are built annually in the USA.

We target the following clients subject to market:

USA: Homebuilders building more than 100+ houses annually. There more than 200 such home builders.

MENA, Asia:
construction and development companies which are:
- Interested in reducing construction timeframe for large-scale projects
- Have access to governmentally backed affordable housing projects for 1,000+ houses
- Focus on large-scale projects of densely located small houses

Problem or Opportunity

It is fair to say that construction has not changed much over the years. To build a house structure, which is the most labor and material intensive part of the construction, we rely on tightening wooden pieces together with nuts and bolts or assembling heavy bricks and blocks. It takes a lot of time. Speed and quality depend on skilled labor, which is limited and not predictable.

For example, it can take up to 8 months to build a house structure (walls) of an average single-family house in Florida. Homebuilders want to have a solution to deliver projects faster and on schedule, with constant and predictable lead time as well as constant quality. This is what 3D printing robotics construction can fully provide.
The same situation is happening in developing countries. There is a huge demand for new housing (1000+ houses) but it cannot be delivered due to a huge lack of skilled labor.

Our product solves the customers' pain and increases the productivity and effectiveness of their business.

Solution (product or service)

We sell 3D printing robots and 3D printing material to construction companies. We also provide training and technical assistance.

Our product is business equipment presenting an automatic tool to increase productivity. The same as electrical drill or builders - these tools make hard manual work easier and faster to execute.

Competitors

Alternatives: gantry printers and industrial robotics arms.

Gantry printers are bulk and not easy to transport; the size of a building is limited by printer's size; print tiny houses on-site or wall segments in-house that then delivered to the site and assembled together.

Robotics arms: limited arm outreach that requires a constant relocation of the robot in order to cover a larger area; not easy to move as they are heavy and have to be strongly attached to avoid overlapping;

Advantages or differentiators

Our competitive advantage is the true portability of the robot that allows to 3D print buildings of any footprint and on-site. Only our solution provides users with desired freedom in design and house footprint as well as ease in machine handling/moving. Other 3D printing robotics solutions like industrial robotic arms or gantry printers cannot provide such a disruptive approach due to the design of the robots.

Apis Cor's main advantages and differentiators:
- 1st true portable 3D printer
- The unlimited footprint of a house
- Compact and light: easy to transport, handle and move on site (remote control)
